How to approach
The recommendation is not optional here. Their submissions page states they do not accept unsolicited submissions without a letter of recommendation from an industry professional, and that all unsolicited material is deleted unread.
Note the specific form: a letter of recommendation, not simply a name to drop. If someone credible is willing to write one, that letter is the thing that turns your approach into a considered one. They represent writers for stage, television, film, radio and animation, so the relevant industry professional could come from any of those worlds.
The PreList verdict
Who this is for: writers who can obtain a written recommendation from someone working in the industry. The breadth of their list means a theatre or radio contact counts as readily as a screen one.
Who should skip it: anyone without that letter, since their policy makes it the precondition rather than an advantage.
