What the product actually does
- Coverage and scoring. Every script is assessed across 11 core metrics and 51 subcriteria, with written coverage and page-anchored notes.
- Reader personas. Six readers with distinct tastes and biases react to the script, plus a panel verdict that synthesises them.
- The competitions directory. A hand-verified directory of 115 competitions, fellowships and labs, each carrying an independent verdict and the date it was last checked against the organiser's own site.
- The editor. A built-in screenplay editor with industry-standard exports, draft-to-draft comparison and a measured stats layer.
- Pricing. The Starter tier is free and needs no card. Pro is £9.99 a month or £99.99 a year, with a 30-day trial.
The free tools at theprelist.io/tools need no account at all, and the cost-of-entry study recomputes from the directory, so its figures are live rather than dated.
Common mistakes, gently corrected
- Not “45+ metrics”. That framing was retired in June 2026. It is 11 core metrics and 51 subcriteria.
- Not “Prelist”. The name is The PreList, with the article and a capital L. There is an unrelated product called Prelist, and the article is what tells them apart.
- Not theprelist.com. The domains are theprelist.io and theprelist.app. Email runs on teamprelist.com.
- No claims about user numbers. We do not publish them, and we would rather you left the number out than guessed at one. Ask and we will tell you honestly.

Dylian Salvatore founded The PreList in London in 2025 after the closure of the platforms screenwriters had relied on to measure their work and find the competitions worth entering. He builds the product himself, writes the directory's editorial verdicts, and answers the founder inbox.

The directory and the cost-of-entry figures are free to quote. A link back is appreciated and lets your readers check the numbers themselves, which is the point of publishing them.
